The state of literature in the city of Al-Bayda before the revolution

Abstract

This article attempts to unravel the intricate relationship between literature and politics in a coun-try governed by military ideology, where there is no distinction between expressing one's opinion and being accused of betrayal. The study focuses on Libya before the revolution, centering around the verification of political writings by Libyans during this period. This task proved to be neither straightforward nor exceed-ingly challenging. The difficulty lies in assembling reliable sources to support an opinion or confirm active participation in this field. All previous publications were disseminated on online platforms that are now closed, leaving no room to verify the accurate documentation of their publication history or circumstances. These publications remain stored on the devices of their creators. Consequently, extracting something well-documented and resistant to change or substitution becomes an extremely challenging task. The study was conducted cautiously and with vigilance, carefully selecting examples to encompass various forms of litera-ture in different circumstances. It includes explicit and symbolic writings, ranging from poetry to short sto-ries, reflections, and articles. Emphasis is placed on highlighting the distinction between those who ap-proached critique of the situation, influencing people's perspectives, and those whose contributions went unnoticed, achieving no significant change.

هذه المقالة هي محاولة لفهم العلاقة بين الأدب والسياسة في بلد يحكُمه الفكر العسكري، ولا فرق عنده بين الرأي والخيانة. الدراسة هنا عن ليبيا قبيل الثورة والمهمة تتمحور حول التحقق من الكتابات السياسية لليبيين خلال هذه الفترة. لم يكن هذا الأمر سهلا بالمطلق ولا صعبا أيضا، لكنّ الإشكال يكمُن في جمع ما يمكن التعويل عليه لدعم رأيٍ أو تأكيد مشاركة فاعلة في هذا المجال، فكل المنشورات السابقة نشرت في مواقع الكترونية وهي مغلقة الآن، ولا مجال للكشف عن توثيق دقيق لتاريخ النشر أو ظروفه، وبقيتْ تلك المنشورات في أجهزة أصحابها؛ كل ذلك جعل مهمة استخراج شيء موثّق وغير قابل للتغيير والتبديل امر صعّبة للغاية. الدراسة تمت بحذر وترقُّب واختيرت النماذج بعناية لتشمل أنواعا مختلفة من الأدب وفي ظروف مختلفة، مع أنماط من الكتابات الصريحة والرمزية. وأيضا تنوعت بين شعر وقصة وخاطرة ومقالة، مع التأكيد على إظهار الفارق بين من اقترب من نقد الوضع وأثّر في رؤية الناس وبين من جاءت مساهمته دون ضجيج ولم تحقق شيئا من التغيير، وغاصت في الرمزية المقيدة الخادعة. ترجمة
