Mythology of Birth and Immortality (The Odyssey of the Two Rivers)

Abstract

The importance of the topic lies in the fact that epics are a heritage for all humanity, upon which childhood consciousness is founded. Then, as the mind evolved, it turned towards experimentation and philosophy, where humans attempted to transcend the dimensions of reality and search for the essence of existence and immortality. This was an attempt to understand the conflict between death and the human will clinging to survival. The study followed the descriptive analytical approach, which focuses on describing literary texts accurately and conducting in-depth analysis to reach the desired results. Additionally, it is a method based on interpretation, criticism, and critique of literary phenomena, encompassing all necessary processes for researching and studying literature. The study concluded that the supreme and distinctive example of hu-manity and the intellectual essence of the epic attempted to search for the secret of immortality and desired to formulate a new life, yet remained wandering, seeking the puzzle of death and life. However, the out-come of the struggle led to failure and a return to the starting point.

تكمن أهمية الموضوع في أن الملاحم إرث للإنسانية جمعاء، تأسس عليها الوعي الطفولي، ثم ما لبث أن تطور العقل فتحول نحو التجريب والتفلسف، حاول فيها الإنسان تجاوز أبعاد الواقع والبحث عن ماهية الوجود والخلود، ومحاولة فهم الصراع بين الموت وبين إرادة الإنسان المتشبثة بالبقاء. اتبعتُ الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، الذي يهتم بوصف النصوص الادبية وصفاً دقيقاً، ودراستها دراسة معمقة، للوصول إلى النتائج المطلوبة، إضافة إلى أنه منهج قائم على التفسير والنقد والنقد للظواهر الادبية، فهو يضم كل العمليات اللازمة لبحث ودراسة الادب. وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن المثال الأعلى والمتفرد للإنسان والجوهر الفكري للملحمة حاول البحث عن سر الخلود ورغب في صياغة حياة جديدة، وظل هائماً باحثاً عن لغز الموت والحياة، ولكن النهاية التي آل إليها الصراع هي الإخفاق والعودة إلى نقطة البدء.
